Pumpkin pie season is nearly here therefore it is time to share my new recipe for homemade pumpkin pie spice. This aromatic spice mix will become a perfect addition to your moody autumnal evenings.
If you have not tried pumpkin pie spice before, this is your time. This is a warming blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. Some recipes call for cloves as well but in my opinion cloves are reserved for Christmas and gingerbread spice.
As with every spice mix, please notice that you can adjust the ratio to you liking. If you are not too keen on ginger or any other ingredient, just add less of it.
Feel free to double, triple, etc this recipe. It will be very convenient to make a bigger batch and keep it on hand.
As with any spice mix, there is not much work involved. You only have to mix all the spices together and this is you. My tip is to use a sieve as it helps to distribute all the spices evenly. I love making my own spice mixes as I know exactly what is in the jar. No preservatives, no sugar just pure spices.
Now you know how to make this aromatic mix, so let's see how it can be used:
