Super easy and super healthy cauliflower rice - Japanese style, is a low carb, keto, nutritious, cheap and you can match it with pretty much any dish.
Today I am presenting you a new recipe for a savoury side dish. I decided to add a little bit of a healthy content on my blog, just to balance out the number of sweet recipes. Hope this new recipe for a fake 'rice' as I call it at home will win you over.
I think the chef Ben Ford - who invented cauliflower rice should get a medal. His idea is brilliant! Cauliflower rice is a fantastic alternative to a standard rice. Personally I do not like to call things something they are not. So this is not actually 'rice' as you may guess it is just crumbled cauliflower. For the sake of typing this post and SEO requirement and search engine I used word 'rice'.
How to make cauliflower rice - Japanese style
Making this dish is pretty smooth. You do not need to boil or roast a cauliflower. You just need to add it in a food processor and turn into crumbs. Then you need to fry it for a bit with some spices and serve hot. There are few rules you should stick to to make the best cauliflower 'rice'
Tips :
What does Cauliflower rice - Japanese style taste like?
You may believe it or nor but actually this dish tastes very good. The consistency is soft and resembles a rice texture if cooked properly.
Soy sauce adds saltiness, and chili adds and nick heat. The nuttiness from sesame seeds and sesame seeds oil just blends in beautifully. I love adding green onions and fresh red chilis for extra crunch.
You can serve this dish with pretty much any meat, fish or seafood. I am sure that everybody who is on a low-carb or keto diet will appreciate this simple but scrumptious dish.

Super easy and super healthy cauliflower rice flavoured with Japanese flavours
Prepare wide pan with lid - if possible.
Place cauliflower into a food processor and pulse until cauliflower turns into 'rice size' pieces. Alternatively you can use grater if you do not have food processor.
Add sesame oil on a pan and heat it up.
Add cauliflower, sesame seeds, salt, soy sauce and chili oil into a pan. Mix everything together. Put a lid on. Cook the cauliflower for about 5 minutes and stir it from time to time.
In the last minute of frying add chopped green onions and stir well.
Serve hot with a portion of meat.
