I can not believe how fast time flew. Christmas is around the corner. Everybody is already going crazy with Christmas shopping and decorating their houses. I went crazy as well and decided that this Christmas is all about shortbread. Welcome to my 14 days of Christmas shortbread
I have created 14 new shortbread recipes that I will be sharing with you every day for the next 14 days. So if you need inspiration or an idea for your Christmas baking keep checking my website so you do not miss anything. Let’s bake together this Christmas! Below you can see the selection of shortbread I made and I hope you will find recipes you enjoy.
If there are other flavour combination that you would like me to add to the list, please let me know if the comments below.
1st day of Christmas shortbread series has to start with the best Scottish shortbread. This is such a classic. It is rich, buttery, crumbly and melts in your mouth. If you have not tried it before, this is the time. I am sure that once you make it you will not be disappointed.
2nd day of Christmas shortbread series is taken by coffee and chocolate chunks shortbread. I could not miss the opportunity to include this classic flavour combination on my shortbread list. This shortbread is fantastic and perfect for breakfast.
3rd day of Christmas shortbread series goes to chocolate and chili shortbread. A real treat for all chocolate lovers with a hint of heat.
4th day of Christmas shortbread series continues with halvah and cardamom shortbread. I could not miss this nutty and fragrant Middle Eastern marriage of flavours. These shortbread are shaped like Madelines cakes. They are loaded with halvah and cardamom flavour. They are eggless and vegetarian as well.
5th day of Christmas shortbread series goes to gingerbread honey shortbread cookies. These gingerbread honey shortbread cookies are soft and utterly delicious. They are made with real honey and homemade gingerbread spice. Dough is very easy to work with and perfect to make with kids. These eggless cookies are perfect for decorating.
6th day of Christmas shortbread series belongs to indulgent and sophisticated whisky and walnut shortbread. Earthy and rich whisky flavour combined with walnut and chocolate. If you like whisky, you will not be able to say no to these beauties.
7th day of Christmas shortbread series must start with brown butter and miso shortbread. Nutty, salty and sweet….This shortbread is to die for.
8th day of Christmas shortbread series needs some boozy spiced rum and raisin shortbread bites. These little aromatic shortbread bites are studded with plump raisins soaked in rum. White rum icing and colourful sprinkles make them look extra festive.
9th day of Christmas shortbread series belongs to churro shortbreads. Why not use flavour of the beloved South American dessert and mix with Scottish favorite sweet treat. The results are insane.
10th day of Christmas shortbread is taken by Parmesan and black pepper shortbread – my favourite savoury treat. It is salty, spicy, buttery and tastes mouthwatering. My recipe requires only 4 ingredients and is eggless and vegetarian. Parmesan and black pepper shortbread is a great alternative to a sweet treat.
11th day of Christmas shortbread series will continue with a wonderful Amaretto and cranberry shortbread triangles. Amaretto and cranberry are match made in heaven. These boozy and buttery shortbread triangles are studded with ruby and plump cranberries.
12 day of Christmas shortbread series is reserved for a savoury variation. To be more precise for cured egg yolks and black pepper shortbread. A very unexpected, yet very tasty savoury shortbread treat.
13 day day of Christmas shortbread series goes to matcha and cranberry shortbread. Japan meets Scotland and the result is wonderful. Slightly bitter matcha shortbread bites sweetened by plump ruby cranberries. These little green treats are a must to make over Christmas.
14th day of Christmas shortbread series, last but not least are whipped shortbread cookies. The only shortbread recipe on this list that use powdered sugar. These cookies are very light, tender and they melt in your mouth. Sprinkles on top add extra crunch and colour.
I hope you enjoy my recipe selection. If you think I should add some other flavour combination, please let me know in the comment section below.
