How to make homemade pumpkin pesto sauce

The base for this delicious and gorgeous looking pumpkin pesto sauce is my homemade pumpkin puree Honestly, the best pumpkin puree you will ever make and need. If you don’t have time to make your own pumpkin puree you can use store-bought.

Then you need to follow a few very simple steps. Place pumpkin seeds, pumpkin puree and garlic into a food processor and pulse until you get a smooth consistency. Then add Parmesan cheese and pulse again. Next add freshly ground black pepper and sir in olive oil. Your pesto sauce is ready.

TIPS:

  1. Buy a piece of Parmesan cheese that you can grate yourself. Grated Parmesan from a shop does not taste good and is covered in chemicals that prevent the pieces of Parmesan sticking.
  2. Check if your garlic is fresh and juicy. Only fresh garlic cloves will give you a vibrant flavour that will shine through in your pesto.
  3. If you can, use freshly ground black pepper. It really changes the profile of the sauce.
  4. Stir in olive oil at the very end. Do not add olive oil to the food processor. Just stir it in with a spoon.
