Almond crescent cookies

Crumbly and buttery almond crescent cookies that melt in your mouth. A very easy recipe perfect for any occasion.

Honestly can not believe where this year went! I hope 2023 was a generous one for you and hope 2024 will be even more generous and eventful. This is my last post in 2023 and want to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Lots of love and less scrolling time! My last recipe of 2023 is a very simple one and of course it is cookies – almond crescent cookies to be more precise.

Are almond crescent cookies easy to make?

Absolutely! These cookies can be made in less than in two hours. I basically added most of the ingredients into the mixing bowl, made the dough in 5 minutes and let dough chill for an hour.

Next, I have portioned the dough into 10g balls and rolled each ball into a crescent shape. Then baked cookies for 12 minutes, dusted cookies with icing sugar and voila!

What do the cookies taste like?

These cookies are buttery, crumbly and they melt in your mouth. Grind almond and almond extract flavour shines through and makes these cookies irresistible. A dusting of powdered sugar adds not only a cool look but mostly just right amount of sweetness.

My recipe is perfect to make for any occasion: Christmas, Easter, a Party, you name it – hope you will give it a go!

Instructions

  1. Add AP flour, cubed butter, ground almonds, almond extract and salt into a bowl and mix together until you all the ingredients come together and create a dough.

  2. Wrap the dough into a cling film and put it in the fridge for an hour.

  3. Prepare two large baking trays lined with baking paper and set aside.

  4. Prepare a shallow dish and add icing sugar into it, set aside.

  5. Prepare a clean working space and a kitchen scale.

  6. Preheat your oven to 160°C (Fan).

  7. Remove the dough from the fridge and tear an approximately 10g portion of the dough and roll it into a mini log shape and bend it slightly so it resembles a crescent. I got 56 cookies from my dough.

  8. Place each cookie on prepared baking sheets. You do not need to leave a lot of space between each cookie as these cookies will not spread.

  9. Bake cookies for about 12 minutes until golden.

  10. While cookies are still hot, gently place each cookie in the dish with icing sugar and using a spoon sprinkle sugar on top. The sugar will stick to cookies and create a sweet irresistible layer.

  11. Let cookies cool down completely.

  12. Store cookies in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks.

Hi Linda. Thank you for your comment. These cookies are very fragile so I would not recommend freezing them. They last up to 3 weeks in a cookie box at room temperature. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Have a great day Anna K.
