Fried Amaretto figs with Amaretto cream

This simple and easy, no-bake dessert is a great idea to make during fig season. Fried Amaretto figs with Amaretto cream are boozy, sweet and irresistible.

I am trying my best to make the most of fig season this year. I am munching on fresh figs every day and can’t get enough of these beauties. But today I was in a mood for this light, yet sophisticated fired figs, which I made many times before. I am not sure why I have not shared this recipe earlier- well, here it is now. How you will enjoy it!

How to make fried Amaretto figs with Amaretto cream

I would advise to make Amaretto cream first.

Add whipping cream and Amaretto liqueur into a medium bowl and whisk until you get stiff peaks. Place in a fridge.

In order to make this recipe you need fresh figs. Wash them, cut the stems and cut horizontally . Place figs on a medium pan, add butter and fry figs on one side (skin on) for about 2 minutes. Turn the figs, flesh down and pour 50 ml Amaretto. Swirl the pan and fry figs for about 2 minutes. Remove figs from the pan and place them on a plate. Let the figs cool for a minute. Then using a cookie scoop or a spoon arrange a dollop of cream on figs.

Sprinkle toasted almond flakes all over dessert.

TIPS:

  • Do not overwhip the cream as it will curdle and turn into butter.
  • Figs cook very quickly, therefore do not leave figs unatt3ended when you are frying them as they will turn into a mush.
  • I did not add sugar to whipping cream as Amaretto is sweet. If you like very sweet desserts, add a tablespoon of icing sugar to the cream and then whip.
  • Before I add a dollop of cream, I let figs to cool down a little bit so cream do not melt instantly.
  • When frying figs, remember to first fry them flesh up and then flesh down, so figs can absorb Amaretto easily.
  • If you do not have almonds flakes, you can use whole chopped almonds (or other nuts).
  • This recipe will only work with fresh figs, it will not work with dried figs.

What do fried Amaretto figs with Amaretto cream taste like?

This no bake-dessert is so light and satisfying to eat. Every bite is filled with sweet and buttery Amaretto fig and a layer of fluffy Amaretto whipped cream. Toasted coconut flakes add an element of crunchiness to the dish. The flavour is very mellow and not overly sweet.
