How to make marshmallow fluff buttercream frosting

In order to make this recipe, you need to first make marshmallow fluff, called also marshmallow creme. If you have not tried it before, you are in for a treat! Marshmallow fluff is a sweet gooey spread that tastes like marshmallows.

Making marshmallow fluff is easy, just follow steps in my recipe and it will turn out great. Click this link for homemade marshmallow fluff and it will take you to my recipe.

When marshmallow fluff is ready, start beating butter until light and fluffy, for about 10 minutes. Then start adding fluff, a spoon at a time. After adding all the fluff, keep mixing buttercream for another 2 minutes. Next add salt and mix for 2 minutes. This is it. Your buttercream is ready.

TIPS:

  1. Cream butter for at least 10 minutes. You will notice that the longer you cream butter, the whiter and fluffier it becomes.
  2. Make sure marshmallow fluff is completely cold before adding it. Otherwise butter will melt.

How to store marshmallow fluff buttercream frosting

I always recommend storing buttercream in an air-tight container in a fridge. It prevents buttercream from taking on any smells from the fridge. Store it the fridge for up to 5 days. This buttercream freezes well.

I would not recommend freezing this buttercream as marshmallow fluff does not like moisture. This is my personal experience. Please let me know if you had luck with freezing it.
