A kick of flavour from around the World.

Goat cheese buttercream frosting

This smooth and sophisticated goat cheese buttercream frosting is perfect for decorating cakes, cookies, cupcake, you name it.

It seems like American buttercream is everybody’s favourite topping, but is it? I heard from may people that American buttercream, which is purely butter and icing sugar, is overly sweet for them. f you ask me, I agree with it. I tried it once and we did not become friends and probably never will. Therefore, I decided to create a buttercream, or as many people call it a frosting recipe, that is less sweet and delicious.

How to make goat cheese buttercream frosting

In order to make this wonderful frosting you need to make sure that all ingredients are room temperature. Moreover you need to sieve your icing sugar. It will help to get rid of any lumps and contribute to a beautiful smooth consistency. In order to get a nice light colour, cream your butter for at least 10-15 minutes. creaming butter for longer time contributes to a fluffy, light and airy buttercream. I encourage you to use high quality butter. It will make a big difference in flavour profile.

I understand that not everybody likes goats cheese but this recipe will convert you. This goat cheese buttercream frosting is wonderfully balanced and the goat cheese flavour is not overpowering at all.

Adding vanilla extract is optional. I like to add vanilla extract just to add a mellow hint of vanilla.

    Hi Vivienne

Thank you very much for your comment. I would suggest replacing cream cheese with more goat cheese. The goat cheese flavour may be more distinct. So, as long as you don’t mind it, it should work. Please let me know if you have more questions. Happy baking! Anna K

Hello Anna, I’d like to use your recipe goat buttercream recipe on a pumpkin bundt cake, but am wondering if you can suggest an alternative for the cream cheese in the recipe. I can tolerate goat and sheep milk products, but not cow milk, and vegan cream cheeses are never satisfactory.
    Thank you.
